Sentimentality and Rationality are two different categories of how human understands the truth. The people who believe what the majority thought to be true are commonly the sentimentalist and the people who wants to know with evidence are the rationalist. The sentimentalist beliefs are imposed mainly on mythology like parable stories, guiding their actions with morality for consequences. The rationalist is on their path to discovery through science, philosophy, and mathematics composing their self development by thinking on cause and effect with rationality.
What Is Mythos and Why Is Sentimentality Are In Common With It?
Mythos, derived from Myth, are more in connections with the people who rely on emotions to find the truth. Sentimentalist falls under the category of Mythos. The people who just want to be accepted mostly falls on these beliefs. The mythos are more concerned about the characters of the story to base as the reality. The Mythos are rich in symbolism which are inherited by our ancestors which became part of our rich culture and are widely accepted entirely as the truth as we humans tries to explain what is the reality from the past. Mythos has became our main explanation, but as we expand our understanding more, it needs to develop with our discovery.
What Is Wrong With Mythos Today?
The major fallacy of Mythos beliefs is confusion and retrogression as it preserves the none investigated beliefs. One of our major issues with Mythos are war caused by division. Those who are teaching have made their own versions and as they prove to be the ones who are right, emotional following people fights for what they believe to be true resulting in catastrophic incidents. Mythos is meaningful, but its arts are misinterpreted by the mainstream.
What Is LOGOS And Why Rationality Is With It?
Rationalist falls under Logos. The Logos, or the principle of order and knowledge, is more about the procedure of orchestrating. To see the world as God's musical composition in disharmony that God speaks his words with the words of reason. The rationalist is more concerned about explaining reality with evidence and are mending the world's issues with the use of reason. Logos more commonly known by the use of Logic is the use of reason to discover the truth.
What Is The Difference Between Believing And Knowing?
The difference between believing and knowing are the presented proof. As humans we can't avoid errors. We might believe in something we totally think is the truth because of its popularity. Knowing is the definite awareness of information based on holding the evidence with our senses or rational inquiries by using methodological procedures.
It's All About Feeling Good Versus How And Why?
How many people actually care about knowing the truth? The majority cares more about feeling good than searching for answers, that's why it is easier to just believe. In today's society it is all about being accepted than being correct. The people who are more sentimental goes along with the wave of ocean of influence also known as herd mentality in psychology. The thinking rationalist dares to know as they are not contented with what the majority believed to be the fact.
Traditions And Fairy Tales Versus Discovery And Analysis
As we are a child growing up we get to learn to value our traditions. Our family, school, community, and the whole world is programed with these old ways of thinking. These traditional beliefs goes back since our ancestors like our treasures that we preserve in our present that we keep as part of our life.
I understand the value of our customs, but as an advocate of human progress I do not want this to stop human beings to discover more. We must value more of our progress in our culture. We should always stay updated about new ideas and pursue improvements. We should not let these treasures of our past be our vaults.
Our traditions which are supposed to be spiritual are now turned into something materialistic. Consumerism and brainwashing are the effect of these preservation. We can see this example in Christmas time. A child is made to believe that there is a Santa who flies up in the sky with reindeer giving away gifts while we spend lots of money preparing and buying something to fool ourselves.
I have nothing against human imagination and happiness. I want to elevate our happiness to our ongoing development progress. Why don't we put these energy on human achievements? There are more in this world that we should be mature about.
What Is Healthy Skepticism?
Healthy skepticism doesn't mean to be close minded, but opening our minds to seek for proofs. It is very important to this developing world to not jump into conclusions and take every matter into consideration. We should get rid of our prejudice. I would like to leave this mark on this subject by stating that "Truth Is Not A Popularity Contest But A Thinking Contest."
