The imagination is a wonderful place that is full of ideas that can be used to create an art work. There are a lot of artists who use only their imagination to create their art work. However, sometimes the opposite holds true, as there are many artists who only paint things that are real. However, both forms of art have their benefits and are creative. Here are some of the reasons that the use of imagination is so important for art.
1. Ignites Passion of Art
Being an artist can be one of the most rewarding jobs in the world, but there are still bills to pay and jobs to work. This can kill the passion that an artist has to create art work. The imagination allows anyone a break from the reality we live in. The imagination allows us to create dreams and reminds us what we are passionate about. Finding a balance between passion and responsibility is something that at artist needs to have.
2. More Innovation and Creativity
There is a lot of art work and technology that was created because of the imagination wanting to create something bigger, more beautiful, or something completely new. Artists and scientists have minds that think outside of the box, and wide imaginations that are not tamed. This open mind leads to freedom to be creative and push the limits of what is possible. Smart phones, airplanes, the Internet, and other technology would have never been created without artists and scientists pushing the limits of what could be real.
3. Reality Sucks From Time To Time
We live in a world where the news is always covering crime, violence, sad or sick stories that would make it seem like the world is falling apart at the seams. Art from the past does paint battles and sickness, but artists are no longer bound to only painting what is around them. The trap of ‘what is’ is an easy one to fall into as an artist. The problem is that this trap leads to artists giving up their creative power.
However, the imagination can push an artist to create some of their best art works, so they can make the world a better place. Art makes both the artist and the viewer feel something, while this is not always happiness, connecting with other people is their goal. Changing the way people look at the world is one of the best benefits of art.
While we are grounded in reality, the imagination is what keeps an artist creating new art work. Applying the imagination to your art can be a challenge, as there may not be a real object to base your art on. However, you should keep trying since you may get it right one day.
